I was studying Acts 3 and an interesting connection descended into my mind. Peter was pleading with the Jews and many witnesses to the trial of Jesus to repent and accept Jesus as Messiah. I found it fascinating that it helps clarify what Jesus meant that if you deny Him you can still be saved but if you grieve the Holy Spirit you are condemned. I think what Jesus was doing was saying that many people that crucified him or denied Him could later repent. I think we see this in the interaction with the crowd Peter was addressing. I think it also sets up justifying the ministry of Paul though he was not an original apostle because he not only denied Jesus but killed those whom followed Jesus. Most of us know this but I think grieving the Holy Spirit unpardonable. I wonder if the great falling away (I believe we are seeing it now) features “deconversion” where people public state they renounce the Spirit is a feature of what Jesus was referring too. I just wonder if this is in the ballpark.
