You cannot "lose" your salvation like you lose your keys or glasses but you can throw away your salvation via free will. When you get saved you don't forfeit your free will to choose Jesus or not to choose Jesus. Sadly, some do throw away their salvation and the bible speaks on what happens when you do it (2Peter 2:21). I just think the wording "once saved always saved" can give new or weak believers the wrong idea. Once you're saved you cannot continue in sin.... willfully. We mess up for sure and feel absolutely horrible after we've messed up but some just willfully sin thinking they are saved no matter what they do and they have a pass to keep on sinning. Plenty of people living in known and willful sin think they are saved just because they believe in Jesus. I mean there are homosexual churches who absolutely believe in Jesus but Jesus is very clear many times throughout the bible that the sexually immoral and homosexuals will not enter the kingdom of heaven. 2 Peter gives clear indication that people can get saved and then throw it away.
