Watching is mentioned by Christ, and it's watching in this context you've shared, watching for His return, watching for deliverance from the snare that will trap the entire world (the great tribulation). Nothing is more important than us having our eyes, minds, and hearts stayed upon His soon return. Some assume that those not watching will get swooped up in the rapture just the same, but that's all it is, an assumption. Obeying the words of the Master rather than making assumptions seems the better option to me. I'm often attacked for making this assertion, i.e., to not make assumptions but instead, carefully follow Jesus's instructions. Only time will tell, but in the meantime, I highly recommend watching wholeheartedly for His return, focused more on Jesus and less on the evil doings of this world.
Luk 21:35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
Luk 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
